Since 1851, the name SINGER has been synonymous with sewing.
The Singer Corporation is an American manufacturer of sewing machines, first established as I. M. Singer & Co. in 1851 by Isaac Merritt Singer with New York lawyer Edward Clark. It was renamed Singer Manufacturing Company in 1865, then The Singer Company in 1963.
The spirit of practical design and creative innovation that characterised the company at its beginning continues today as they develop products for every level of sewing. SINGER developed the world’s first zig-zag machine, and the first electronic machines. They also developed the first sewing assistant app for mobile devices. From fashions to home décor, embroidery, quilting and more, SINGER is dedicated to helping people express themselves through the craft of sewing.
